Calvin Klein endured an outpouring of anger of the gay community after releasing their latest add with Bella Hadid kissing a female robot.
The Debate over an Add Ended with Calvin Klein’s Apology
The gay community was infuriated with a new, 30-second Calvin Klein’s add. The spark that started this fiery reaction was the fact that Bella Hadid and a widely popular female robot Lil Miquela hugged and kissed in it. Some LGBT supporters interpreted this as a blatant attempt at “queer-bating.” Simply put, they accused the famous designer of trying to lure LGBT people into watching the add by simulating a same-sex romance.
Numerous haters who have spilled their rage on various social networks have also objected that Klein could have used live LGBT models instead of a robot.
People who back up Klein have claimed that this famous designer has always supported the gay community and respected diversity and different choices.
They also think that the whole issue was overblown and that the gay community went too far in this case.
Calvin Klein put an end to this debate by issuing an apology to all who found the add offensive, stressing out that this company always promoted freedom of expression.
The controversial add for CK’s “My Calvins” campaign was released last week.
