Democrats Defend Kamala Harris From Donald Trump Jr.
Several Democratic candidates stepped up to defend their colleague Sen. Kamala Harris from what they called “racist” attacks. The whole criticism was fueled by Donald Trump Jr., who also revived the whole “birtherism” argument.
Ali Alexander, one of the black conservative commentators, tweeted during the debate that her comments were disgusting and that Sen. Kamala Harris is not an American Black. He also added that she is half Jamaican and half Indian and that he was tired of people trying to rob black Americans from their history and culture. He also claimed that the people in the audience were his people and not hers.
Alexander further added that he was openly against Kamala Harris, and he announced that he was only trying to make a distinction between her Jamaican ancestors and his African ones. He also said that her ancestors hadn’t experienced Jim Crow’s laws or U.S. slavery.
Donald Trump Jr. later shared his tweet and even asked if that was true. He then deleted the tweet, because it was being misused. One of his spokesmen said that he was simply unaware of her heritage.
Governor of Washington, Jay Inslee, commented that the attacks against Harris were racist and ugly. She also discussed the issue of “birtherism” and Donald Trump raising the question again.
Before Donald Trump was elected, he repeatedly questioned Barack Obama falsely accusing him of not being an American citizen. Even after the former president provided his birth certificate, Trump refused to comment on the matter.
Biden, Booker, O’Rourke, de Blasio, and several other defended Harris, who still refused to give any comment on the subject.
